| This Island Earth:
Obvious talent and strong vocals distinguish Long Island band This Island Earth. With producer/ engineer Armand Petrie (Goo Goo Dolls), they came to Sabella in June to record digitally on the "RADAR" system -- Otari's 16- and 24-bit hard-disk recording system -- Petrie's personal preference.
Petrie digs the magic of the digital domain when it comes to being able to edit, splice in verses and choruses, and more. "But by the end of the session," Jim Sabella says, "we all had an epiphany:
"This session was supposed to be recorded in 16-bit, to be compatible with what Petrie has elsewhere on RADAR. But with the Otari system, you've got to tell it: '16-bit.' Otherwise it defaults to 24-bit!
"Now we had 4 or 5 songs already recorded in 24-bit! How were we going to fix this? We decided to transfer the 24-bit songs onto our Studer A80 24-track machine. Upon playback, all eyebrows raised! 'This is great!' everyone exclaimed.
"Analog sound is different -- to the point where it was decided we'd transfer all the songs to the Studer, and then back to the Otari." Petrie still prefers the ease of editing in digital, which we would all agree with. Having both is heaven.
This sound-rich session was hugely successful and is currently being mixed in Rochester. Click HERE to go to our Session Gallery and see some pics of This Island Earth at Sabella.
Marcy Playground:Our
work with these radically talented and down-to-earth musicians has really
paid off. Their debut album is almost double platinum! M.P. was back in
our studio recording their latest release "SHAPESHIFTER". Click HERE

Nine Days:A
hot, young alternative pop band with solid songs and hooks has been playing
out a lot and shopping their album with consistent interest. It finally
paid off. Nine Days has just been signed to Sony
550. Congratulations Guys!!!
Track 1AB:These
guys have been performing from New York to Los Angeles, playing with the
likes of the Fuzzbubble, Live and Buddy Miles (from Jimi Hendrix Band
of Gypsies). The band just finished a radio remix for the title track
off their new album "reverie" at Sabella Studios.
Supergenius:Who
can resist the sizzling-hot front woman of this high energy band? Fuggedaboudit.
She was voted best female vocalist on Long Island and is incredible onstage!
Their new demo is exceptional and was completed in record time. They are
dedicated and determined to make waves.
Suicide King:They've
been touring the country extensively and getting radio air play all over
the place. Now they have just finished recording their second album at
Sabella and it sounds fantastic.
Who Cares:was
nominated for "Best Unsigned Band" by the Long Island Voice. From Newsday's
Isaac Guzman, they received the coveted and scarcely given AAA recording
review. Their release "Radiator People" is one of the top selling local
CD's at Sam Goody's. They are just finishing up their next CD at Sabella.
Edna's Goldfish:won
"Best Ska/Punk Band of the Year" and "Indie Album of the Year" from the
local Island Voice. They have also been on the "Ska Against Racism" tour,
playing the east and midwest and ready to record their next album.
Step Lively:Our
up and coming ska heroes were nominated for "Best All Ages Ska" by the
Long Island Voice.
Hollow:An intense
Heavy-Groove band who just placed second in a contest to represent New
York at The Warped Tour. They just finished their new album, they have
a great press kit and are shopping til they hit pay-dirt. Shouldn't take
long.
World Stranger:R.A.T.M.
fans beware! There's a Stranger among us busting out their new, driving
5 song E.P. with Vulture Records. These guys are truly troubled, talented
and destined to do damage.
The Knockout Drops:Innovative
guitars, Rod Stewart/Jim Morrison vocals and a critically acclaimed original
sound. They are one of the only unsigned bands ever to sell out Irving
Plaza. Newsday, Billboard and Guitar Player Magazine feel that this band
is most likely to get signed immediately. We think so too.
We are always looking for new talent to work with and shop.
One of the many benefits you'll find at Sabella Recording Studios is our industry connections. We have good relationships with several major and indie labels hungry for new talent. If you've got the skills and the songs, we can make you sound your very best and get you heard by the right people.
